I am trying to figure out the media and politicians use of
the word restraint. I don’t get it, why are we telling Israel
to use restraint. Just making that statement implies that Israel
normally would deliberately target civilians while attacking. Why does “restraint”
need to be used? The Geneva Conventions already restrain Israel
in its’ tactics just as it does any other country. What other restraint is
needed? (I will note that Hamas and Hezbollah are not signatories to the Geneva
Conventions nor do they abide by them) Fighting a war with one hand tied behind your
back does not make a winning strategy (see Vietnam). Are these terrorist not the same people we are fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan?
Exercising restraint in the face of terrorism is probably
the worst strategy there is. Islamic fascism and all Islamic terrorist groups
must be decimated and wiped of the face of the planet. Restraint and mercy can
not be shown to these people (I use that term loosely). What ever happen to total war? Why if we (the U.S.
and Israel and
any other allies with a spine) ran the war according to the Geneva
conventions, combatants that are not properly dressed and are not apart of a
standing army can be shot on the spot as spies. Maybe we should show less
restraint and really put the fear of God into these terrorists. Other countries
and people may not like us but at least they will fear us and think twice
before fighting against us.
